How do I get an estimate, and does it cost anything?
Estimates are free and there is no obligation. Call us, or send the quote form with a few details about the job. We will arrange a time to come and look at the property, measure up and talk through what you want.
You will get a written price with the scope and schedule set out, so you can compare it properly against any other quote you have.
What goes into the price?
Labour and materials. We work out how long each part of the job will realistically take, apply our rate to that, and add the cost of the paint, primer, filler, caulking and masking the job needs.
The size of the job matters less than its condition. A small room with a lot of repair and three colours of trim can take longer than a large plain one.
Are you insured, and do you have WorkSafeBC coverage?
Yes to both. We carry $2,000,000 in liability insurance and every crew member is covered by WorkSafeBC. We can send you certificates for either before the job starts, which property managers and stratas often ask for.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Our workmanship is covered by a two-year written warranty. If something we did fails within that time, we come back and put it right.
The paint itself also carries the manufacturer’s own warranty, which is separate from ours.
Who will actually be doing the work?
Trained students paired with experienced painters. No student works unsupervised: an experienced painter sets the job up, works alongside the crew, checks the preparation before any finish coat goes on and signs off the finished work.
Everyone on site is covered by WorkSafeBC, and the two-year workmanship warranty applies regardless of who carried the work out.
What paint do you use?
Professional-grade products from the major manufacturers, including Benjamin Moore paints, chosen for the surface and the exposure rather than by habit. Premium paint covers in fewer coats, holds its colour longer and stands up to washing, which usually makes it cheaper over the life of the job.
We use the same approach to the primers, fillers and caulking underneath. If you have a brand or a specific line you prefer, tell us and we will quote on it.
Do you use latex or oil-based paint?
Mostly latex. It can go on almost any surface with the right preparation, comes in every sheen, and has far lower odour.
Oil still has a place on some metal and some high-wear trim, and we use it where it genuinely performs better. Latex can go over a previously oil-painted surface as long as it is properly sanded and primed first.
Do I need to do anything to prepare?
Not much. It helps if you can clear ornaments, wall hangings and anything breakable, and tell us about anything fragile or valuable in the rooms.
We move and cover the furniture, mask the floors and protect the areas we are working in.
How far in advance should I book?
For exterior work in spring and summer, as early as you can: those months book up first. Interior work is easier to fit in at shorter notice, and winter is usually our most available time for it.
How does the 15% website special work?
Mention it when you first get in touch and we will apply it to your estimate. It is one discount per project and cannot be combined with other offers.
Which areas do you cover?
All of Greater Vancouver, including Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Surrey, South Surrey, White Rock, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, New Westminster, Delta, Langley, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. If you are just outside that, call and ask — we often can.
