An epoxy floor is only as good as the slab preparation. The concrete is cleaned, degreased, ground or etched to open the surface, and any cracks or spalling are repaired before coating, because a coating applied over a sealed or oily slab will lift.
We apply solid-colour and flake systems with a clear topcoat, and we can add a non-slip additive where the floor gets wet.
Concrete also has to be dry enough to coat. Where there is any doubt about moisture coming up through the slab, we test rather than guess.
What is included
Degreasing and mechanical preparation of the slab
Crack and spall repair before coating
Moisture testing where the slab warrants it
Solid-colour or decorative flake systems
Clear topcoat, with non-slip additive if wanted
Clear cure times before foot and vehicle traffic
Questions about epoxy floor coating
How long before I can park on it?
Typically light foot traffic after 24 hours and vehicles after about 72 hours, depending on the system and the temperature. We give you the exact times for your floor.
Will it peel like the kit I bought at the hardware store?
Those usually fail because the slab was not properly prepared or was still damp. Grinding the surface and testing for moisture is what makes the difference, and it is why we do both.
